Aroon Purie, Managing Director

An alumnus of the London School of Economics and a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants (England & Wales), Aroon Purie is responsible for the strategic direction of the company.

As Founding Editor & Editor-in-Chief, India Today, Chief Executive, The India Today Group and Chairman, TV Today Network Ltd., he sets the journalistic style for the largest and most respected magazine publishing group in India and for the premier 24-hour news and current affairs Hindi news channel, Aaj Tak.

He is associated with several prestigious councils, amongst them, as Member, Council of Management, Audit Bureau of Circulations (Chairman, 2000-2001). He is on the Executive Committee of The Editors' Guild of India, Council of Management All India Management Association (Special Invitee). He was also Chairman, CII National Committee on Media (2001-2002).

Recipient of the National Award, the Padma Bhushan in March 2001, he has received numerous other honors. These include the B.D. Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism (1988), 'Journalist of the Year 1990' by Indian Federation of Small and Medium Newspapers, The G.K. Reddy Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution to Journalism (1993-1994), and the Hall of Fame Award from the Advertising Club of Calcutta (2002).

   
Vinod Kumar, Executive Director

As CEO of Thomson Press, Vinod Kumar looks after all its investment centers. He has been with the company for the last 16 years and has been the architect of the various diversification and expansion plans.

Earlier, he had a long stint at Metal Box, a premier packaging company in India as Head of Finance and was also responsible for Independent investment centers including its paper and plastics division.

His experience of over 40 years in printing and finance offers a wealth of guidance to all team members. He has been instrumental in the company achieving a reputation in the market as a quality printing and high-end typesetting service provider.

A chartered accountant by qualification, he is an associated member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, India and also holds a masters degree in Finance Management from Bombay University.

 

Anil Kumar Mehra, Chief Financial Officer

Anil Kumar Mehra is a Fellow Member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales and also of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has been working with the company and the group for more than 30 years and has considerable expertise in the printing and multimedia industry.

His expertise ranges from advising companies on financial management and rendering service in other areas of management—including business consultancy, corporate planning and tax planning.

He also holds the dual responsibility of Finance Director of the India Today Group as well as Financial Advisor appraising all new planned investments.

   
Vinay K. Singh, Chief Operating Officer

Responsible for managing Thomson Digital, the Digital Data Processing and ITES division of Thomson Press (India) Ltd. including business development activities and end-to-end servicing, from marketing to delivery operations.

A graduate from the University of Pune, India, in Printing Engineering and Graphic Communication Technology, he has been with the company for over 17 years and has served the company in various capacities as diversified as pre-press, printing and sales and marketing before being entrusted with the present responsibility of Thomson Digital.

He has, in the last five years of his association with this division, been responsible for a quantum leap in business growth, quality standards and customer satisfaction. His responsibilities include operations, growth and diversification of the existing four Thomson Digital units, spread across the country.

   
Edward Bowe, Chief Technical Officer

Edward Joseph Bowe, as the Chief Technical Officer, is responsible for the complete technical support and development at Thomson Digital and heads the Technical Support, Software Development, R&D and Product Development teams.

An alumnus of the Waterford Regional Technical College with a specialization in Applied Computing, Eddie comes from Ireland. He has to his credit the development of various tools and software systems with underlying XML technologies, which also includes Image Manipulation Software and Interactive Typesetting System with Artificial Intelligence.

He has cross-continental experience in working for global companies in the publishing industry. With his immense knowledge, expertise and rich and varied experience of over 20 years in the STM publishing industry, Eddie leads a highly motivated and skilled team on the technical path and gives a different dimension to the competitive edge of Thomson.
